A turbine power plant in central Mexico is down and needs a replacement part ASAP. Thousands of miles away, the plant’s maintenance firm calls on Pilot’s Hartford station to make the delivery. Desperate to get the power back and knowing customs could delay delivery, the customer makes a special request – Can the part be hand carried?
This is not business as usual, but taking care of customers is. So Pilot’s Dennis Fluckiger, volunteers for the trip. On Wednesday, he leaves for Mexico, delivers the part and returns to Hartford. On Friday the customer calls – another part is needed and so is Dennis, since he did such a great job the first time. He’s no sooner returned when the third request arrives. Weary but dedicated, on Tuesday Dennis revisits Mexico, where by now, customs officials are laughing as they wave on Pilot’s seasoned traveler.
At 18,000 miles logged, Dennis is one more example of how far Pilot people go to be a shipper’s best friend.
