Lately it seems wherever I go, people are talking about how they are trying to “go green!” I like to think they are all working on ways to ship with Pilot, but I am sorry to say, that is not always the case. They are talking about alternative energy, recycling, and renewable resources. From the manufacturer’s floor to the CEO’s office, people are looking for ways to protect the environment.
Here at Pilot we have always prided ourselves on providing the most efficient transportation solutions. The good news is the most efficient has usually been the most green. Even before oil prices skyrocketed, conserving fuel meant saving money for our customers. But there is even more that we can do.
Today, Pilot is proud to be associated with environmentally-conscious carriers. In fact, we, along with several dozen partners, have received accreditation through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay Transport Partnership, a government program that aims to reduce transportation-related emissions through fuel efficiencies.
Our transportation partners are finding new and innovative ways to reduce our industry’s impact on the environment. From propane powered forklifts to computer technology designed to provide optimal idle, speed and shifting patterns to conserve fuel. These efforts are quickly adding up to a 20 percent reduction in fuel consumption. And, that really adds up.
Together we continue to look for more ways we can make a positive impact on the environment, so go green! And go with Pilot!
